According to eyewitnesses, three oak-trees were planted during a solemn event. Kārlis Ulmanis had planted the oak-tree that grows in front of the school so that it could be seen from the classroom window, where he himself had once sat as a child. This oak-tree, which was planted by Kārlis Ulmanis, is now 80 years old and has expanded its branches over time. According to the measurements taken by researcher Guntis Eniņš, its height is 17 m, the circumference of the trunk – 2.82 m, and it grows in with by 3.6 cm every year.
The old primary school in Bērzmuiža was built in the 19th century for school purposes. Kārlis Ulmanis studied at this school for three years – from 1886 to 1889. Currently, the old building can be viewed only from the outside.
