Krišjānis Barons (born on 31 October 1835 in Strutele Manor) was the youngest of eight children. He lived in Īle from 1838 to 1843 – in Upesmuiža (Druvas), in the guard’s house of Vanags (Eglāji), at Tēšaiņi, and in the Cirole village with his sister. In 1985, a memorial stone to Krišjānis Barons was put up at the homestead Burtnieki, given that it is the closest homestead to Upesmuiža (Druvas).
