Sundial is a gift from the Auce municipality to its residents and twinning partners. Its central element is the symbol of the municipality, i.e., a post horn, surrounded by an arch of notes with the first bars of the local song ‘Jauka dzīve Vecaucē’ (‘It Is Nice To Live in Vecauce’). Time is indicated by an inclined blade, scientifically called ‘gnomon’, which casts shadow onto the dial. It is oriented so that it points not only towards north but also at the Polaris. The sundial was inaugurated on 25 July 2015.
