Jānis Bergs was the founder and director of the training and research farmstead Vecauce. Under his leadership, the first test field of all departments was established with an area of 20 ha, which allowed to commence diverse works in the field of crop cultivation and beekeeping. On his initiative, the farmstead started growing medicinal plants and herbs. The monument is located in the Vecauce Castle park (sculptor Vija Dzintare).
