In 1956, a monument was put up in memory of those Soviet Army soldiers who had lost their lives during the World War II, given that they were already buried at this cemetery. A sculptural double statue – a soldier and a partisan – is set in the centre of the ensemble. The authors of this monument are the sculptors Valdis Albergs, Ļevs Bukovskis, and Alberts Terpilovskis. The height of the monument reaches 5 metres. A total of 8178 soldiers are buried here, and all of them have been identified
