The Bīlasti oak-tree grows in the Bīlasti Manor park on the outskirts of Dobele. The height of the secular tree is 18 m, its circumference – 0.9 m, the height – 4.11 m, and its average age – 160 years. However, the most remarkable thing about this tree is the crown projection area that reaches 680 m2. No other oak-tree in Latvia has such a large tree crown. The tree is sometimes also called ‘the Aire’s oak-tree’ in honour of General Aire who had owned the manor after Latvia’s freedom battles.
