The Luste Castle was built in 1775. It is believed that it was designed by the Danish architect Severin Jensen. The castle was built as a hunter’s lodge of Peter van Biron, the last Duke of Courland. The castle used to be surrounded by a very beautiful park with a great variety of exotic plants. This place is wonderful also in the spring when the protected wild tulips grow in front of the castle. Now the only reminder of the castle are its ruins. Work is currently underway to gradually clean the area.
