The well-maintained and improved left bank of the River Bērze beside the Dobele Music School has become popular with the city locals and guests as a great place for walking and recreational activities. Various projects have made it possible to clean the overgrown, marshy bank and to construct paths and wooden footbridges that extend along the marshy bank. From the viewing platform by the water one can see the fountains in the middle of the river and the Dobele Castle ruins. The highlight of this scenic walking area is a fountain designed in the shape of a peculiar aquatic plant – the water-plantain, which is beautifully illuminated on the evenings.
